"My dear, sweet child. That's what I do."

"It's what I live for!
To help poor unfortunate merfolk like yourself."

"Poor souls with no one else to turn to."

I admit that in the past I've been a nasty

They weren't kidding when they called me, well, a witch

But you'll find that nowadays
I've mended all my ways

Repented, seen the light, and made a switch

True?

"Yes."

And fortunately I know a little magic
It's a talent that I always have possessed

And dear lady,
please don't laugh

I use it on behalf

Of the miserable, the lonely, and depressed

"Pathetic."

Poor Unfortunate souls
In pain, in need

This one longing to be thinner

That one wants to get the girl
And do I help them?

Yes, indeed!

Those poor unfortunate souls
So sad, so true

They come flocking to my cauldron

Crying, "Spells, Ursula, please!"

And I help them
Yes I do!

Now it's happened once or twice
Someone couldn't pay the price

And I'm afraid I had to rake 'em 'cross the coals

Yes I've had the odd complaint

But on the whole I've been a saint

To those poor unfortunate souls

"Now, here's the deal: I will make you a potion that will turn you into a human for three days."

"Got that? Three days."

"Now listen, this is important: before the sun sets on the third day, you've got to get ol' princey to fall in love with you,"

"That is, he's got to kiss you;"

"Not just any kiss, the kiss of True Love."

"If he does kiss you before the sun sets on the third day, you'll remain human permanently!"

"But, if he doesn't, you turn back into a mermaid and..."

"You belong to me!"

"Have we got a deal?"

"If I become human, I'll never be with my father or sisters again."

"That's right!"

"But, you'll have your man."

"Life's full of tough choices, isn't it? Heh heh."

"Oh! And then there is one more thing. We haven't discussed the subject of payment."

"But I don't have-"

"I'm not asking much, just a token really, a trifle! You'll never miss it."

"What I want from you is..."

"Your voice."

"My voice?"

"You've got it, sweetheart. No more talking, singing, zip!"

"But without my voice, how can I-"

"You'll have your looks, your pretty face."

The men up there don't like a lot of blabber

They think a girl who gossips is a bore!

Yet on land it's much more preferred for ladies
not to say a word

And after all dear, what is idle babble for?

Come on,

They're not all that impressed with conversation

True gentlemen avoid it when they can

But they dote and swoon and fawn
on a lady who's withdrawn

It's she who holds her tongue who gets a man

Come on!

You poor unfortunate soul

Go ahead!
Make your choice!

I'm a very busy woman
And I haven't got all day

It won't cost much

Just your voice!

You poor unfortunate soul

It's sad

But true

If you want to cross the bridge, my sweet
You've got to pay the toll

Take a gulp and take a breath
And go ahead and sign the scroll

Flotsam, Jetsam, now I've got her, boys

The boss is on a roll!

This

Poor

Unfortunate

Soul!

Poor Unfortunate Souls
- Pat Carrol
(The Little Mermaid)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, MY FRIENDS!!! And! Happy Disney Villain Takeover!! I cannot convey how much I actually love doing these posts. I wish I could have done more of them this year, but I'm happy I at least got to do this one :) Little Mermaid was my absolute FAVORITE Disney movie growing up, and Ariel remains my favorite Disney princess to this day! I had always kinda thought about doing this song for Villain Takeover (mostly because I really wanted Jasmine to play Ursula for some reason lol), but I was never sure of how exactly I wanted to do it or the costumes. Then last year I went to see my childhood friend in her last High School Theatre production. It was a play of The Little Mermaid (she played Ursula and killed it!) and when I saw the costumes for the eels that pretty much sealed the deal lol XD So the eel costumes where made in inspiration to those and honestly, I'm pretty happy with them! They make me laugh so hard they're so ridiculous lol!! XD Ursula and Ariel's costumes I had to do a bit differently than I was hoping due to time constraints (I literally finished this right before I moved, like a day or two before), but I did finish the post so once again, I'm happy lol!! I also tried out my ring light for the first time for a post on here, I think it came out pretty neat but what do you think? Would you want to see this effect again in the future or does it make the quality too weird? Lol anyway, I really hope you enjoyed this post! I should be putting out vacation photos next month if I can so be on the lookout for that coming up! If you celebrate Halloween please let me know what you dressed up as! And if not, let me know about something fun going on in your life right now! Love you all so much and I hope you have an awesome and safe Halloween/Taco Tuesday!!

- Katie :)

P.S. This is my 100th post!! Only took me six years but we got here let's go lol XD

P.S. the Sequel: I'm so sorry I haven't answered comments on the last few posts, I promise I will!! I'm just super overwhelmed and I've been kinda sick the last week or so, so that's making everything harder lol 'XD

Comments

  1. You killed it with this post! The costumes are literally amazing...you did SUCH a great job on them! I swear you outdo yourself every year with these.
I actually didn't see the Hidden Mickey in this post...so you did a great job hiding it!
I'm always in awe of your lyric photoshoots but this one is just on another level. The photos that you edited look fantastic! The costumes are just perfect...(I know I already said that I loved the costumes but I had to say it again...)
I just love this post so much! Great job! (I can't wait to see what you've got planned for next year's takeover lol!)

    1. Oh my goodness thank you Beth!!! That seriously means so much, it took literally everything I had to get this done in time and I had to change how I wanted the costumes to look to make the deadline, so I'm really happy that you enjoyed it and that you think it was still a good one!! :D
Oof!! Yeah I'm realizing from the comments I may have made it too hard this year lol, I'll have to be careful of that next year 'XD
Thank you so much!! Doll photography is the hardest form of toy photography for me, and I REALLY wasn't sure how the ring light would go lol (I've never really had much luck with it for some reason XD), but because I was only doing one Takeover post I really wanted it to be as special as I could make it. So I'm really glad it made you smile :)
Thank you so SO much!! Everything depends on health stuff right now, but if all works out I've got some really fun ones planned for Takeover 2024 ;)

  2. Heyyy Katie!! It's been forever since I commented on anything, or since my sisters and I posted on our blog! (https://acrazydolllife.home.blog/) I guess we kinda fell off the face of the internet... But anyways, I love this post!! The Little Mermaid is a good movie, and I've actually gotten to see it performed as a play twice in local theatres!! I love all your costumes, and the photo effects as well! Great job!!
For Halloween, I dressed up as a cat! I got to hang out with friends, and it was fun!
Also, I couldn't find the hidden Mickey head! lol
Anyways, I hope you have a great day!!

    1. OH MY GOODNESS HI EMILY!!! Thank you for stopping by!! I hope all is going AMAZING for you!! Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The Little Mermaid was my absolute FAVORITE growing up and still holds a very special place in my heart. I actually performed a solo dance to Part of Your World at a senior home awhile back and honestly I think little 5 year old me would be screaming with joy if she knew lol XD That's so epic that you've gotten to see play productions of it!! I got to see one of my friends perform in a high school production of it a few years back and there's just something so magical about a live performance of that one :D Thank you so much!! they were tricky but so fun to make and figure out! The editing I REALLY wasn't sure on so I'm really glad you like that as well lol XD
Oh my goodness that's so fun!! I'm so happy to hear your Halloween was a blast!! :D
Lol it's all good! I think I made it too small this time around lol, I'll fix that next Halloween.
Thanks so much, Emily! I hope you have a great day as well and thanks so much for stopping by! Seriously made me smile :)

    1. Ahhhh me too!!! It was a definite favorite of mine growing up so this was SO fun to do! :D Thank you so very much!! I really appreciate it!!
I know I already answered you on the nomination and I'm sorry I didn't answer the comment at the same time. I have to reply to comments on my computer because my phone really doesn't like Blogger for some reason and I wanted to get back to you about the email as quick as possible cuz I know it's hard trying to juggle that sort of thing and it definitely makes it harder when people aren't getting back to you lol 'XD But I still wanted to thank you on your kind words about the post so I'm still replying lol! Thanks so much again and I hope you have a wonderful day!!

  4. It appears that I somehow did not respond to this post. *shakes head at self* I know I've read it, possibly twice, but I guess I forgot to comment. I'm really bad at remembering to comment, to be quite honest, but anyway, as usual, I thoroughly enjoyed this!! The eels are hilarious and I think Jasmine makes a perfect Ursula! I recently enough watched the new Little Mermaid, so I actually remembered the song. Ariel used to be one of my favourite Disney princesses too, but now I'm more partial to Merida or maybe Moana (if she counts, she's not really a princess, but still).
100 posts, woo hooo!! I think I'm somewhere around that too, and it's quite a lot!
It's really not Hallowe'en anymore, so Happy New Year!
