Update Time! (Both for the Blog and Life)

HELLLLLOOOOO MY FRIENDS!!! How are you? I hope you are doing well! As you can see, I have returned lol!! XD Now, believe it or not (and I definitely would not blame you if you didn't, considering the extreme lack of posts lol!) I actually haven't been gone, not truly anyway. The truth is, I've been sneaking around the background, like a ninja, or a squirrel with a saltshaker of glitter, if you will. Just sprinkling some stuff here and there, giving a much needed and deserved update to good ol' ADU. I also have some life updates to share, but that's not as fun so I'm gonna save that for the end LOL!! XD

So, what exactly has changed over here? Well, not too much has necessarily changed, but some stuff has been added. The biggest (and longest overdue) being...

The completion of the Meet the Dolls Page!!

(I would set off a confetti canon here, but I don't actually know how to do that?? Like, I think you just twist it but I don't know, I'm confused 'XD)

Now, I should clarify, it's mostly completed, lol! I have purposely left some bios partially incomplete for photo story spoiler reasons (photo stories? what are those? We haven't had one of those in 82 years!), but I will add those in once I get those dollies into play here on the blog. I have literally been writing bios since JANUARY!! It has been a long time in the making but I'm really happy with how it all came out so please check it out if you'd like! I'd also love to do some About the Dolls posts where I take a deeper dive into specific dolls, how I got them, where the inspiration for their names or personalities came from, etc. So if you see a doll you'd like to know more about while you're there please let me know as well! :D

Another thing I added in this update is a Welcome Page! This is something I've wanted to do for awhile, especially since we have a lot of new people over here (sup, new people!) from when I won one of the Adventures Awards over on Regan's blog. This page is where you can find all the helpful things to help you get to know us better and how this blog operates! You can also find how to subscribe to All Doll'd Up over there as well, just in case subscribing through Blogger doesn't do it for ya (which is completely valid, I don't like Blogger Reader either, lol!).

I do have some other small changes sprinkled around as well, but these are the major things so I'll leave the rest for you to check out on your own :)

(Small sneak peek at the vacation pictures I didn't get around to posting last year LOL! XD)

Now, for some life updates. As you probably know from my last post, I have been having some health issues that forced me to move back home a grand total of a week and a half after moving out lol! It has been an interesting adventure indeed, lots of doctors visits and dealing with weird symptoms. But unfortunately after all the of tests and doctors and traveling, no one was able to figure out what's wrong with me. This has been probably one of the roughest years of my life, if not the roughest, which is pretty dang impressive because I've had some WILD years in my relatively short time on earth XD Life has been pretty unclear for me, which has been hard since I felt like things were so clear before if that makes sense? Thankfully nothing life threating is going on with me from what we can tell and from what all the tests say, but it's still pretty rough dealing with symptoms at times and just the overall emotional effect this has all had. This year has been one of kind of just relearning life in a new way and taking things as they come and navigating stuff the best I can. I have no idea what I'm going to do from here currently or what the future holds, but I'm doing my best to trust God in this time and at the end of the day I know He's got a plan and knows what He's doing :)

On the bright side though, I'm dancing again!! Which is huge deal to me as, with my health effecting my balance and such, I wasn't sure if I'd really be able to again. I've missed dance so much, it's harder to do now as it does indeed trigger my symptoms lol, but goodness I'm so glad to be back to it. I'm going to be performing with my charity soon in a throwback music themed show! I'm going to be dancing to Time in a Bottle by Jim Croce and en pointe I'll be dancing to Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson (finally, my ability to moonwalk on pointe is going to payoff! I'm becoming too powerful ;) ). I've been dancing so much, look at my ballet shoes, they're barely hanging on, sorry shoes... not sorry enough that I'm going to stop using you but sorry nonetheless XD

I've also had a lot of time to read this year, which has been very fun! I've finished over 40 books thus far, and completed 4 book series! I also read Robin Hood and was absolutely destroyed NOBODY WARNED ME ABOUT THE ENDING??? (Granted, I don't know anyone who's read the original Robin Hood, but I'm still upset I literally cried XD). I'm currently working on a crochet blanket that has a square for each book I read this year! I've been making the pattern grids myself based on the book covers, here's the finished square I made for Tenney's third book :)

I got to do a few craft shows over the last few months as well, which was pretty fun considering I didn't expect to do any more after I moved. I did pretty well at the first one at least (not as great at the second one but I was pretty much the only crafter who sold anything from what I could tell so I'm still grateful), and I even had time to make these cute sweaters for two of my newest dolls, Caroline and Aspen!

Another exciting thing, IS THAT THE DOLL HOUSE IS BACK!!! (Still can't figure out those darn confetti canons -_-) Yes indeed, this will make posting so much easier for real. Plus, I just missed having it around. I still got some decorating to do, but I'm so happy to have it back for future posts!

Last but not least, I got this really cool crown from Goodwill for $3.50. Does that affect the blog or my life in any way, shape, or form? No, no it does not. But it makes me feel cool when I wear it so I decided to show y'all anyway, lol!! XD

Well my friends, I guess that's just about everything. I'm so excited to get back into posting for our Blogaversary month *cough*a giveaway to celebrate*cough* and, one of my favorite traditions on this blog, Disney Villain takeover month!! But, before I go, I just want to thank you all so much for your kind comments, messages, and patience in this time. For real I'd get comments on the last post and would literally cry lol!! You guys are amazing and your kindness has a bigger impact than you could ever imagine. I hope you enjoy all the new stuff and I can't wait to see you around the blog! I love you all so much, God bless, my friends! I hope you have an amazing day!! <3

  1. Katie! I always enjoy seeing a post from you pop up in my email. The meet the dolls page is truly impressive, and your welcome page is a nice touch. The amount of work you put into your blog is so admirable. And I hate that your health is giving you trouble...I hope you get some answers soon.
I'm so glad you're able to dance though. Those songs are really cool (and moonwalking in pointe shoes? that sounds very impressive).
Congrats on reading (and crocheting) 40 books! I actually have multiple editions of Robin Hood, but I don't know which one is the original. I'm definitely intrigued to read (whichever one is the OG) the book!
And hey...the dollhouse is back! That's nice. I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for ADU!

    1. Thank you so much, Beth!! I always miss this blog so much when I'm gone and am so worried each time I come back that maybe no one will be here anymore, so it means so much that you're still here and still enjoying it <3 Thank you so much!! It was a very time consuming update and at times I almost gave up on it so I could do some lyric photo shoots lol!! But I'm really glad I saw it through and that you've enjoyed all the new stuff!! And thank you, I really hope some answers turn up at some point, but for now I'm just grateful to be getting back to the things I love like blogging and dancing; as much as I can get back to it at least :)
Thank you! I really missed dance so much, and I'm really excited (and nervous, lol) about these dances (And lol!! It's a trick that has been completely useless up until this point, but I'm excited to finally put it to good use XD)
Thanks a bunch!! And nice!! I have two versions, (excuse the Robin Hood nerd knowledge that's coming, lol) the Howard Pyle version and the Henry Gilbert version. Now technically, the original Robin Hood book was the one written by Howard Pyle (in 1883), but an even older written account of Robin Hood exists in a book called Piers Plowman from the 1370's. I haven't read that one personally, but I believe it is the first literary mention of the Robin Hood legend that is currently known. Once again, sorry for the Robin Hood history lesson, I just really like old books and don't usually have the opportunity to share 'XD
YES!! I'm literally so excited!! I missed it so much, it's going to make posting so much easier lol! And thank you!! I really appreciate it! If time works out in my favor, I think there will be some posts in October that you will especially enjoy... ;)

    2. Girl, I'm always going to be here! You can't get rid of me at this point...
Okay, I actually have both the Howard Pyle and the Henry Gilbert version. I can't wait to read one/both of them, xD. Thank you for sharing that!
      👀 do I hear...villain takeover?

    3. Aww lol thank you so much!! That means a lot to me :)
Nice!! Please let me know your thoughts on them when you do! As much as the ending upset me (and I think the biggest reason it did was just because it caught me so off guard lol XD), I honestly absolutely loved the Howard Pyle version and look forward to reading the Henry Gilbert one as well at some point (once I emotionally recover lol) :) and no problem! I have way too much weird random information so I'm glad I could share it XD
Ooooo.... perhaps.... perhaps I even started working on one of them today .... ;)

  2. Hi Katie! I've never commented over here, but I see that you follow my blog already, so I don't think there's much introduction needed. >:) Even if we haven't interacted before, I *am* glad you're back! I feel the struggle with meet the dolls pages... I have more dolls than I would like to admit and two of them don't even have profiles up right now.
Health issues are the worst and I really hope you can figure out what's going on soon! I've been dealing with some health struggles as well... I know what they are at this point, it's just up to figuring out how to get them to go away! Ugh, it's no fun.
Moonwalking on pointe shoes sounds like the coolest thing ever?? I totally need to see that.
Omg I need to read Robin Hood now! I have an original copy somewhere in my house... the language was too difficult for me to understand when I bought it (in elementary school?) but I've decided to read more classic books this school year, so I think that would be a great one to put on my reading list. I'm reading Beowulf and Dante's Inferno right now. (I also love old books lol, we can nerd out together it's okay)
I can't wait to interact with you in the future!

    1. Hi, E!! Thanks so much for stopping by! I believe I found your blog through the Adventures Awards and it's super awesome!! :) Thank you so much!! I'm excited to be back!! And oh my goodness yes same lol, and one of the biggest reasons I had put it off for so long is that I'm always worried that with so many dolls that maybe I won't be able to make them different enough from each other, so I kept putting all the bios off until I had an overwhelming about of work to do to add all of them in 'XD
Thank you so much, its definitely been a rough adventure but hopefully it gets figured out someday. I'm so sorry to hear you've been going through some health stuff too, it really is the worst :/ I'm glad that they've at least figured out what's going on though and I hope that leads to you feeling better super soon!! <3
LOL!! Its been one of the most useless yet fun skills I've picked up as a pointe dancer XD I'm so happy that I can finally use it for something, maybe I'll try to record it and post it on here at some point as well :)
Oh my goodness yesss you definitely should!! I know I only mentioned how upset the ending made me but it really was such an amazing book!! I REALLY enjoyed it :D and that's so epic!! Classic books are honestly my favorite but I don't know many people who also enjoy them, so that's super cool!! I haven't read those two before I don't believe, how are they so far? (And I will gladly nerd out over old books with you anytime, like I said most people I know aren't too into old books so I'm excited to have someone to talk about them with lol :D )
Thanks so much, E!! I can't wait to interact with you in the future as well!!

  3. Aww, I'm so glad you're back!! I'll go check out your meet the dolls page when I finish this comment, I'm sure that was a huge undertaking and I'm excited to see what it looks like :)
(photo stories?? we get photostories?? wooo hooo!!)
Yay for books! My book-counting year starts September 3rd, because that was the first day of school when I was in grade 10, and I did almost get to 40 this year, but not quite . . . and then I haven't finished any since then, so nothing on the new list yet.
Your dollhouse looks so big and wonderful! Looking forward to seeing it in future posts!
I like your crown. It's very important to have random fun things to wear XD
I hope your health improves, that really sucks that you've been going through so much in that respect, but I'm glad you're able to dance again :)
Excited to see what happens next!!

    1. Thank you so much, ForestPoodle!! I'm so excited to be back, I have so many posts planned that I'm SUPER excited about :D Thanks a bunch!! I hope you enjoy it, it really was a huge job (mostly because I put it off for so long, lol whoops 'XD) but I really did work super hard on it and though I still need to tweak some things I'm pretty happy with it. So I hope you enjoy looking through it :)
(LOL yesss!! I haven't done a photo story in so long, but I have some really fun ones that I'm pretty excited about, so hopefully they come out okay, LOL! 'XD)
YESSSS BOOKS ARE SO AWESOME!!! And that's so epic!! This is my first full year (at least I'm hoping it will be, lol!!) of reading in a LONG time, not because I don't enjoy it or anything like that, I absolutely LOVE reading! Life has just been so busy that I never managed to find the time before, but I've really been trying to make an effort to make time for it this year and it's been really fun :)
Thank you so much!! I had it in the loft above my room for a long time, then had to take it down so we could use the room for something else and I unfortunately didn't have anywhere else I could set it up. I really missed having it, so I'm super excited to finally have a good place for my dolls to hang out in again :)
Lol thank you!! I technically bought it for a Black Swan dance from Swan Lake that I want to do at some point, but I keep just randomly wearing it just because I think it's really neat XD
Thanks so very much, it's been a pretty big bummer to be sure, but I'm doing my best :) and thank you, same! As hard as dancing has been with my health, I'm just really grateful to be doing it again, I missed it so much.
Thanks so much, ForestPoodle!! I have some really exciting stuff in store so I hope you enjoy and I look forward to seeing you around!! :D

  4. I'm so sorry this year has been tough on you! I'm glad that you've been able to dance, though; dance is such a rigorous sport and I have nothing but respect for you guys! All of your crochet projects are so impressive! I love that green sweater you made especially. Can't wait to see your next posts!

    1. Thanks so much, RJ! It's all good, life is just kinda bumpy sometimes lol 'XD Thank you so very much!! It's definitely been rough as far as causing symptom flare ups and stuff (the show I was practicing for was last Saturday and boy the headaches and such that I'm currently having are WILD XD), but I really missed it and performing and the overall creativity of dance so I'm just really glad that I get to do it again :) Thank you!! When I got Aspen I immediately thought what a nice color that green would be on her, so I found a pattern on YouTube for the sweater and made it while waiting for her to arrive. But even though I followed the measurements and yarn and hook sizing and everything, it still ended up being a bit too small XD I don't know if I'll ever be able to get that sweater off her without destroying it, but I definitely made sure to make Caroline's sweater a bit bigger XD Thanks so SO very much again!! I'm really excited about the posts I have coming up so I really hope you enjoy them! :)
