World of Painted Sand - Photo Shoot

*Stumbles through the door* WAIT!! I'M HERE!!! Did I make it in time? Am I still on track for posting once a month? *Checks calendar* SHOOT! It's April. I missed a month -_- Oh well, looks like I'll just squeak in a post for this month at least.

Hey there, friends! How ya doing? How's the weather out there? (It's been jumping between really nice weather to actually acting like winter even though it's way too late for that where I live then jumping back again, LOL!! XD). I hope all is going well for you guys!! I always miss you all so much when I'm gone and whenever I'm in my room and look at my doll shelves I think about all the posts I hope to make and share with y'all. I hope I'll be able to get to them all someday, but I do have a photo shoot for today at least! Several months ago I went on a trip to Sedona AZ with my family, and I just knew taking pictures of Saige there was an absolute MUST! I didn't feel well enough to go on the last hike of the day (Plus there was literally no parking, my mom and I drove around for roughly 20 minutes waiting for a space to open THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE), but it did give me a chance to photograph Miss Saige, while waiting for the rest of my family to return, so I hope you enjoy and please note I took these on both my camera and phone, so quality may vary LOL! XD

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, so I realized once we got to Sedona that Saige's outfit looked a little familiar, then it clicked that I had done a PHOTO SHOOT of her in a very similar look several years ago lol!! XD That was my bad, I wanted to use this coat (one of my favorite pieces of doll clothing EVER!) and the outfit just kinda came together... the same way it already had back in like 2019 XD

You all knew the shoe pics were coming XD

Goodness it was literally so beautiful there!! I don't know if y'all have ever been to Sedona or some of the national parks in Arizona, but pictures truly just don't capture how incredible everything is.

New profile picture for Saige maybe?? What do y'all think?

I found Saige's meet shoes at the thrift store a little while back and I'm literally so hyped!! I didn't originally have them because she was bought used, but now I have her full meet outfit let's gooooo!! (Outside of her ring, but I'm not paying the INSANE amount people charge for her ring on eBay I'm too poor for that nonsense she can wear a rubber band or something XD)

You know, I always take pictures from the top of the head down too. It's an odd angle, I don't know why I do it or when it started but I kinda like them for some reason so I'm going to keep doing it LOL!

Must touch the dead weeds....

Saige was literally one of my dream dolls growing up I love her so SO much!! She has a very special place in my heart <3

I need to recurl her hair so bad *-* I'm AWFUL with curly hair, at least I feel like I am (very unfortunate considering I myself have curly hair LOL!). Saige's curls falling out wasn't as much of a me not taking care of her hair correctly thing as it was a misunderstanding on my part. I put her hair into twist braids for the Nightmare Before Christmas posts thinking it wouldn't mess up her curls (I thought that's what Saige's original hair style was???)  but then it did in fact, mess up her curls 'XD But even just in general I feel like the curls always start to fall out at some point even if I never do hairstyles on them and only tidy them up when they get messy. Is that normal? Does anyone else relate or am I doing something wrong? 'XD

I'M SO PROUD OF THIS PICTURE!!!!

I love pictures like this I have no idea why XD

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, those are my pictures of Saige in Sedona!! Once again I was feeling pretty rough during this trip, but I'm so glad I got to get in a photo shoot in such a stunning location!! I know she's from New Mexico in the books, but this is the type of location I associate with Saige and I've always wanted to do pictures of her here!! Like I said we went on a couple hikes in Sedona, but we also drove around a little and saw the Chapel of the Holy Cross!

If you've never heard of the Chapel of the Holy Cross, it's this really pretty church built into one of the red rock mountains that surrounds Sedona. It's considered quite the feat in architecture, if I remember correctly. It is truly stunning!

Unfortunately it was too busy there to get a parking place either (plus my mom and I were the only ones really interested in going, lol 'XD), so we didn't get to go inside. But maybe someday I'll make it back to Sedona and get to go see it from the inside. Maybe I'll take some doll pictures there too, I'm thinking Bridget Noelle, what do y'all think? I also would love to take pictures of maybe Autumn around the shops as well, I don't know how to explain it exactly but the shopping area just feels like her.

Anyway, I really hope you guys enjoyed the shoot!! I'm sorry again for not getting a post up for March and for missing y'all's posts, emails, and comments in the last month as well. My health has been an absolute train wreck for the whole year thus fair. If I could give my health a hard stare for being so inconvenient I 100% would LOL!! So I've been down for the count most of this year, but especially in the last two months. Lots of doctors appointments, many scans and tests, BUT! On the bright side, I think we finally know what's going on!! I know it probably seems like a weird thing to be excited about, but I've been sick for roughly a year and a half with no answer so it's a big deal to me lol! So that's really good at least, I don't know if there's anything that can be done to help (IT'S NOTHING DANGEROUS THOUGH SO PLEASE DON'T WORRY!! IT'S JUST REALLY ANNOYING LOLLLL), but time will tell I guess :) Thank you so very much for everyone's kindness, patience, and prayers in this time!! It means more than you know and I thank God for you all always <3 I've been super SUPER drained and sick from all the health stuff lately and have a craft show coming up soon that I've been trying very hard to push through everything to get ready for, so I won't have time to do anything super crazy for May's post unfortunately. But if you all are cool with it and don't mind two of the same kind of posts in a row, I do have a photo shoot that I took recently!! It's of a pair of dolls I've grown quite attached to and I can't wait for you to meet :D Then I'm hoping to do a photo story in June if I can, that's a post I've been REALLY excited about :)
Okie dokie friends, I guess I should head out. I love and missed you guys so much!! Let me know in the comments which picture from the shoot is your favorite and if you have/had any fun stuff going on lately!! I'd love to know!! :D

God bless, my friends!! I hope you have an awesome day!!

-Katie :)

P.S. I'm not lying my hair is actually curly LOLLLL!!! I just don't have the patience to deal with it most of the time so it's brushed out straight in the picture XD

  1. These are all so cute!! That is totally the location I envision for Saige too! But it's the fact that I stumbled across your blog and you have the exact same layout as me that's just really sending me, LOL 😂 create choice, it's very aesthetic ;)

    1. Thanks so very much!! I had been to Sedona once or twice before a long time ago (also on family trips lol), and I always wanted to go back and do pictures of Saige there so I'm really happy that I finally got the chance :) and oh my goodness that's so funny lol!! I have never seen anyone else on Blogger with the rose background before, that's so cool!! My sister set up my blog for me years ago and just picked this background kinda at random if I remember correctly and told me I could do what I wanted with it later. I have considered changing it multiple times over the years but this layout has just become so nostalgic to me that I never had the heart to lol XD

  2. Saige is so pretty! She was definitely one of my favorites growing up too. I loved all of these photos - Sedona seems like such a pretty place! And yeah, that chapel looks like quite the architectural feat!
I can't wait to see everything you have coming up! A photostory sounds really epic! And your photoshoots are the best, so I think two photoshoots in a row is a treat.
    I hope your health improves!

    1. Thanks so much, Diamond!! Saige is honestly such a pretty doll, plus her southwestern style reminds me a lot of my grandparents house growing up, which was very heavily decorated in those types of patterns and styles and the general vibe I've become very sentimental for :) Thank you!! Sedona is truly such a stunning place, I definitely recommend visiting if you ever have the chance!! (Though just a heads up, it seems like it's usually INSANELY busy, I think it has been pretty much every time we've gone. The traffic this particular trip was rough and we went during winter 'XD) Right?! It's quite the marvel from the outside, I really hope someday I can see it from the inside in person as well! Thank you so much, I'm very nervous about doing a photo story (its quite literally been years, lol!! XD) but I'm so SO excited about this particular story and to start exploring the worlds of the dolls I'll be introducing. Hoping to unleash a photo series about them but we'll see lol. And that's literally so kind thank you so much!! I don't feel like I'm very good with doll photography so it really means a lot <3
Thanks so very much!! Things are improving a little, so I'm really grateful for that :)

  4. The colors in the southwest are so pretty. I really need to visit sometime! Your photos look awesome, and all the colors came through so well. I love that Saige's eyes are the same color as the sky. Saige would have been the doll I brought, too--- even if she's from New Mexico.
That coat is probably the cutest doll coat I think I've seen, and it matches the vibes perfectly!
I've noticed my Saige's curls don't hold very well, even though I have other dolls with curly hair and they're always fine. I think maybe mine just has dry hair, but idk. At this point, I've started using hairnets to keep my dolls' hair from getting messed up when I'm not using them. It's a lot easier!

    1. They truly are so stunning, and oh my goodness yes you definitely should!! I especially recommend Arizona and Utah, the national parks there are just beyond words (Bryce Canyon may be my favorite, so much so I named a doll after it LOL!! XD) Thank you so much!! The colors in places like Sedona are always so pretty but I struggle so much to capture them, so I'm really happy that you feel they came through okay because I always just really want to share these places with y'all as vividly as possible but pictures just don't do these locations justice 'XD And oh my gosh the rants I could go on about Saige's eyes lol!! She has the prettiest eyes for real :D
Thank you so much!! My mom made it out of a shirt she found the year I received Saige for Christmas and it remains one of my favorite things ever, it's just so her I absolutely love it!!
Yeah, I've kinda wondered if maybe it was because mine has slightly dry as well. Stella (my thrifted Saige) has completely undamaged hair and I haven't had much trouble with her, though Sarah also has undamaged hair and her curls are starting to fall out as well now so idk XD Oh!! That's a really good idea!! I might have to do that on a few of them, especially Pleasant, her hair tends to get messy very quickly lol 'XD

  5. Hello!! Good to hear from you again! (I say this and I know it's me who's been slacking because I don't think I commented on your last post, nor did I post anything of my own)
Saige is so cute!! I love her freckles and her hair colour (okay, but also, classic mold dolls with freckles are just adorable) and the scenery is stunning! I love the pictures where the coat is slung over her shoulder a bit like a one-shoulder cape - looks very cool!!
That's very awesome that your health problems are finally getting figured out! (I think that's a very reasonable thing to be excited about) Best of luck with all that :)
I don't have a ton of time to type more, but I'm looking forward to your next post! I don't know that I'll see it when you publish it (I'm going tree planting for a couple months) but I'll definitely respond at some point!

    1. Hello, ForestPoodle!! Good to hear from you too!! (and lol nah you're good!! I've missed so many comments with everything going on and I can really only reply with my computer so I've really been the one who's slacking 'XD)
Thank you so much!! I absolutely adore Saige, when I'd write stories growing up the characters were almost always based on my dolls, and I had such an obsession with Saige that she had AT LEAST three based on her lol!! XD (and right?! I adore the classic face mold + freckle combo, especially this particular freckle pattern. Also super random, but I heard AG changed the freckle pattern and I don't know if it's for all dolls but it kinda makes me sad lol XD) Thanks so much!! I had a bit of difficulty with that one, (she's a little loose at this point so she didn't really want to keep her arm in place to hold it) but all in all I'm really excited about how the pictures with that pose came out :)
Thank you very much!! Not everyone really gets why I'd be happy to be diagnosed with a health problem, but after a year and a half of struggling with this I'm just so happy to know what's going on.
Lol no worries!! Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my post!! It means a lot and please let me know how tree planting went when you return!! That sounds so cool for real!! :D
      - Katie :)

P.S. So sorry I never replied to your email btw, I promise I saw and read it and was going to reply but life got really crazy with appointments and tests around that time so I lost track of things 'XD

  6. These are gorgeous photos, Saige is so cute!! That coat looks awesome on her and with the colours of the landscape.
I'm so sorry your health has been so bad lately, but glad you've figured out what's going on.
I don't think I could pick a favourite photo, they're all so good! I will aspire to take photos this good someday. Not much has been happening, but I did decide recently to make shoes for mine and ForestPoodle88's mini dolls (thank you for Kaya, she's so cute!), which is very small and I have no clue why I decided to do this, but probably we'll get some very small doll shoe pictures shortly.

    1. Thanks so much, FlamyFox!! I really appreciate it, I've been hoping to do a shoot like this for quite literally years so I'm really excited that I finally got to do it! :D
Thanks so much, and it's all good! It's definitely been a very frustrating and exhausting time (I've been having pretty chronic fatigue that's been making staying awake throughout the day kinda difficult which has been EXTREMELY annoying because I'm stubborn and want to do stuff lol!! XD), but I'm hopeful that things will start improving at least a little bit soon and that I'll be able to get back to doing the things I really enjoy doing again. But for now, just knowing what is going on is really a blessing. Definitely an answered prayer for real, God is good :)
Oh my goodness that is literally the biggest compliment thank you so much!! I never feel like my doll photography is very good so that genuinely means the world <3 Oh my gosh that's so epic!! I would absolutely love to see those!! I started making shoes for my Mini Kirsten and Josefina a long time ago because neither of them have shoes, but I only finished one shoe (I'm the queen of unfinished projects for real) 'XD So respect for finishing them!! Tiny shoes are super tricky. and you're so welcome!! I'm so glad you like her and that she went to such a good home <3
      -Katie :)

P.S. I'm pretty sure you sent me an email and I never replied to it, I'm so sorry!! I promise I read it, life has just been chaos and around the time I received it I was having to travel a lot for doctors appointments and tests and life has just been really all over the place 'XD
