Twinsies - Photo Shoot
Heeeeyyyy! What's up, my fellow sour cream and cheddar Pringles?! (or perhaps you are a sour cream and onion Pringle? Hey, I'm here for it!) I have returned for this month's post! And not at the last minute this time! YIPPEE!!
As I said in my last post, I can't do anything too crazy this month due to a craft show at the beginning of June that I have to finish preparing for (I've made so many Sonic toys y'all like for real, I'm so tired XD). BUT! I do have a photo shoot for today! I took these back in February when I was taking profile pictures of a couple of the new dolls then got completely carried away LOL!! XD I had a little too much fun but I'm really happy with the pictures that resulted from it so it's all good. So, without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the new doll twins of ADU!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Allow me to introduce to you... Chrissa!!
OH MY GOODNESS I WAS SO EXCITED TO FIND THIS GIRLIE!!! Okay, so back in November I found Chrissa at Goodwill (thrift store chain here in the US) in her Warm-Up outfit in really nice condition for $2.61 USD (after discount). She was quite the surprise and not a doll I ever really expected to get nor sought after for my collection, but I'm so thrilled to have her because she really is so pretty and I have so many fun ideas for her and her sister!
You know, sometimes I come up with doll personalities upon finding or receiving a doll, sometimes it takes months to develop a personality that feels like it fits just right (shout out to Esther who went through multiple personalities over the course of about a year before I finally landed on the right one), but then there are the personalities that I save until just the right doll comes along. And Chrissa ended up being perfect for a personality I've been saving for about a year now. Chrissa is a kind but determined girl, and as a Doll Scout, Chrissa spends much of her time stubbornly getting strange and obscure badges to add to her collection, no matter how ridiculous they may seem to others. There isn't much she wouldn't do for one, the most origami platypuses made in a 1 minute 26 second timespan? Got it. Making a functional rope out of orange peels at least 38 feet long? Did it in her sleep. Plus! She's currently very close to having the world record for most thin mints sold in a single Doll Scout cookie season (look out, Mara). I've been waiting so long to find a doll to use this personality with, and I think Chrissa is the perfect fit :)
These were actually the shoes Grace was wearing when I received her for Christmas years ago!
And now for her awesome twin, Marissa!
I know they're literally the same doll, but she just looks so different to me for some reason? Like I think they're both absolutely stunning and I don't know how to explain it, but they look different to me lol!! XD So, you may be wondering, why does the rule for "I" before "E" except after "C" not work in so many circumstances? I mean, why is it a rule if it doesn't apply in so many cases? "Their", "height", "seize"? What's up with that, English language? You never cease to confuse me -_- Anyway, we'll talk more about that some other time, I want to explain how I ended up with two Chrissa dolls. Now, y'all won't believe this but about a month after I found Chrissa, my mom went to a different Goodwill, where she found ANOTHER Chrissa doll for the same price lol!! It was quite the coincidence, and once the name Marissa popped into my head it all fell into place and I got really excited LOL!! XD
Also, I don't know how helpful this is lol! But Marissa has pierced ears while Chrissa doesn't.
Marissa's personality and interests were a bit harder for me to nail down, but I think I got it (for the most part at least, lol!) Marissa is softball player! Though a little more chill and laid back compared to her twin (Chrissa can be a tad bit intense lol), she still has the same streak of determination in her to succeed in whatever she puts her mind to. I think she's definitely a tad more girly than Chrissa, but not in the sense of her not liking to get dirty or anything like that (I definitely don't think that's the case with her), but more in the way her style leans. Though I don't see Chrissa as a tomboy at all, I think Marissa would definitely be more likely to wear jewelry or pink or just slightly more girly shoes and clothing. And though I really like the idea of them matching, I also really wanted to make sure to subtly show their differences through their styles :)
I am OBSESSED with these shoes!! I got them from Goodwill (Goodwill sponsor me at this point if you're not fast enough I'm sure Pringles will XD) and I just think they're so unique and fun!
I love this shot, for whatever reason pictures like this just make me really happy :)
Fun fact, this is actually only the second set of twins to enter the ADU fam, the first being Lucy and Malorie. There is a third set of twins (Mitchel and Trevor), but they are friends of the family rather than siblings so... yeah XD
I'm actually really proud of how well their outfits mirror each other yet also reflect their personalities. I really hope to accomplish this type of feel with their outfits in the future; I really want them to almost match but not fully, they're twins but they're still their own person :)
Do they look different to y'all or am I crazy lol? 'XD
Huh... I actually forgot those shoes had hearts on the bottom lol!! 'XD
Believe it or not, both these dolls had hair issues when I first got them. Thankfully both came out of it really well and their hair isn't super damaged and really that was their only major issue, but Chrissa had what seemed to be hair gel down the back of her hair while Marissa had what looked and smelled like baby powder in hers... both were a first for me which is impressive considering how long I've been fixing dolls lol, I thought I'd seen it all XD
I'm obsessed with that cat sweater for real LOL! Gemini was wearing it when I bought her.
What a cool thing to have a sister you can walk into the sunset with :)
(I know there isn't a sunset in this pic shush just pretend please lol!! XD)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that was my accidental photo shoot lol!! XD I really hope you enjoyed it, I've been really excited to share these two with y'all and this wasn't how I originally planned to introduce them but I think it ended up being the perfect way to welcome them in :) As I've been mentioning for as long as it's been going on (lol sorry, I promise I'm not trying to complain 'XD), life has been a struggle. But coming up with personalities and backgrounds and stuff for these characters over the last year and a half has brought me so much joy and the most exciting part of it for me is getting to share these characters with you all. So, thanks for being here and for sharing this little ADU world with me :)
Anyway, how's life been for you all? I hope this month has been a good one for you thus far! I've finally started feeling a bit better (praise the Lord) which has been a HUGE blessing. So that makes a lot of things a whole lot easier, and I'm so SO excited to work on some posts after the craft show and hopefully actually have the energy to do so now (not that having no energy was really stopping me before lol, it was just a lot harder XD). I REALLY want to do a few lyric photo shoots over the summer I think, don't know for sure which I'll do yet, but I really want to do a Muppet song for one of them... Oh! Also, fun news, I'm going to be going on a trip this year with my family that I think will yield some really cool photo shoot locations!! I'm so excited!!! :D
Oh! This is also super random, but I've been considering this for about a year now and wanted to see what you all thought. Would you guys possibly be interested in me opening a P.O. Box for doll mail? I really love the idea of making that available if y'all would ever want to send me or the dolls a letter or something and then we could possibly write back? I don't know, I think it could be super fun but what do y'all think? (Also, I hope that doesn't come across as me just wanting y'all to send me stuff lol, that's not my intention AT ALL. Just thought it might be fun to have that option available in case anyone wanted to chat and talk dolls in that particular way.) I've also considered starting an Instagram for ADU but once again, I have no clue lol!! XD Let me know what you think or if you have a preference :)
Well, I guess this is the end of another post. As per usual I could talk to you all day, but I should probably stop before I get carried away XD I can't wait to hopefully have more time to blog soon!! I'll also hopefully be getting the rest of the doll bios up over the summer if I can, I do have a performance coming up in July so hopefully that doesn't mess up any of these plans lol!! XD I really hope you all enjoyed this post and please let me know if you have a favorite picture from this shoot as well!
Love you all lots!! You guys are literally the coolest and I hope you never forget it! <3 Have an awesome day, my friends!
-Katie :)
Love this!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much!! :D

Oh Chrissa!! She was huge on my want list years ago. Not so much now, but she's so cute! Finding two of the same doll for the same price at Goodwill on separate days sounds like more than a coincidence- they were definitely meant to be twins! I see what you mean about them looking different, too! My dolls Grace and Liam are the same way; they're both Grace dolls, but their faces are different (and obviously they look different since Liam is rewigged, but face-wise, I think Liam's is rounder).
ReplyDeleteThey're so cute!! I love the way you've posed the photos, they are so clearly acting like sisters and it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteA Chrissa doll for $2??? Woah...you got pretty lucky at Goodwill! But then...2 Chrissa dolls!
ReplyDeleteI love Chrissa's personality. It sounds so fun...I can't wait to see her featured on the blog more often. Also, it would be so fun to have a moment where these two switch places and confuse all the other dolls.
I love all the photos. You did a great job dressing and styling them to be separate but related. I love how their hairstyle mirrors each other!
Coming up with personalities *is* hard. But then sometimes, a doll (or bear, in my case) just comes with its own personality. Like I recently got a stuffed dragon named Davy, and he's just made his personality so easy to figure out. Also, this was a great way to introduce the twins!
Yay! I'm glad your health seems to be getting better! I hope you have a successful craft show and a fun family trip. I'll keep an eye out for the summer posts (MUPPET PHOTOSHOOT?!). Also a ADU Instagram would be so cool! I toyed with the idea of restarting my BABF Instagram, but then I realized I don't really like posting on Instagram and I never really got a lot of traction from it, so what's the point? xD. I'll stick to what I'm good at. But I think you're great at taking toy photos and running toy Instagram accounts, so I say go for it!
