About Me, the Girl Inside the Pointe Shoes

Hey there! I'm Katie, a teen ballerina who loves American Girl, and just about any 18" doll! I started my blog to share the crazy adventures my dolls have and make friends with people who love dolls as much a I do. And I truly believe that you should never give up your love for dolls to fit in the crowd.

Name: Katie
Age: As a member of The Secret Ninja Force, I am not allowed to publicly reveal that information ;)
Favorite Song: Your Song - Elton John
Favorite Movie Quote: "We get one life, what matters is how you're going to live it. Which guy are you going to decide to be?" -Jumanji 2 (< Please don't watch that movie without a filter 'XD)
Personality: I'm a humor loving, pointe shoe pirouetting, Star Wars quoting, geeky teen. You may find that I can be quite shy at first, but once you get to know me you'll find that I'm pretty outgoing. I believe we should always strive to be the best we can be and to show kindness to all. And one of my most favorite things is making someone laugh or smile :)
Passions: Ballet is something I've loved for a long time. I run a talent based charity that's dedicated to shining God's light on those who need it most through the talents he's given us. We perform at senor homes, fund raisers, and hopefully Orphanages soon! (Fingers crossed) It's a huge part of my life and how I spread the love Jesus has shown me :) I also love writing, reading, crafting, and photography!
Biggest Pet Peeve: Turns on my bad side (AKA, both the left and right XD).
Favorite Food: Fried Chicken
Favorite Color: Literally any form of blue.
Favorite Bible Verse: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10

Here are some other random facts about me so you can get to know me better,

I'm the youngest of four kids

I love Lego as well, my favorite Lego movie is The Lego Movie 2 and my favorite Minifigs I own are Nya and Lloyd (The Lego Ninjago Movie high school version). I actually run a Lego Instagram as well where I share my Lego photography! You can check it out HERE

I've been dancing since I was 6, I love it so much and I'm currently dancing en pointe. I had originally hoped to someday follow this passion and become a professional dancer, but have decided to use what I've learned to teach others and perform with my charity. But if life ends up going in another direction, I'd love to become a writer, I have two book series that I'd like to release into the world someday :)

I enjoy writing fiction stories, most of my characters are actually inspired by my dolls!

Comic book characters are awesome! I like both DC and Marvel, but DC is my favorite, Batman is my favorite from DC (The original Batman, who wasn't super dark and creepy), and Spider-Man from Marvel is pretty amazing too!

I find the story lines of some video games super interesting! But I'm literally the worst at video games LOL XD

I run a knitting/crocheting and doll restoration business. I find dolls at thrift stores, and fix them up to sell, and I crochet Spider-Man, Groot, Chewbacca, and ect :)

Do we have anything in common? Any questions? Let me know in the comments below! I love talking to you guys <3 thanks so much for checking out my blog, I hope to see you around. Have an awesome day!

  1. Awesome "About" page, Katie! I hope you can become an excellent professional dancer, but of course writing is not bad at all either. ;) You've crocheted a Chewbacca?! That's awesome! Also your the youngest of 4 kids and I'm the oldest of 4! How cool!

    1. Thank you so much Jewel! Aww thanks, that's so sweet of you to say :) ballet is a hard industry to get into, so I'm just trusting God that if it's where He wants to place me then it will happen. But if not, there's a back-up plan that I love doing too :) YES! Chewbacca is one of my favorites to crochet, I want to try crocheting Captain America this year as well. LOL I know right? And you have two brothers and one sister right? I have two sisters and one brother XD

  2. Cool "about me" page! You really run your own business? That is awesome!!
I love writing fiction stories! Most of the time I wish I had more dolls so that I could create the characters that I have in my stories! I've just started a book that I wish I had a doll for. I'm not going to give you any spoilers though, cause I might write about this book on my blog.
Do you ever find AG dolls at thrift stores? Where do you sell your dolls (like, do you have a website, a store, or just on eBay?) I really want to start collecting dolls, other than AG dolls, and I all ready have started collecting paper dolls. What I really want is antique dollhouse dolls. Perhaps you could tell me if you sell any of those?
    Great job on the page!

    1. Thank you! I hope it was fun and interesting to read :) Yes! It's pretty small right now, but it's super fun.
Nice! Me too. Yeah, it's funny because my characters always seem to be my dolls with different names. I actually considered renaming Carter after a character that was based off of him XD oh cool! I can't wait to read more about it, and I hope you find a doll you can create into your character! No, sadly. I've only found Parker, who I ended up keeping because I had always wanted to make a custom, and it would have become too expensive after buying the wig and everything to sell her. Right now I mainly sell through craft shows in my area, but if you're interested in buying from my business i believe there is a way we could work that out. Oh cool! There's such an awesome array of dolls outside of AG that are so cool to collect! And paper dolls are so awesome! I don't currently have any Antique dolls, but I can always be on the lookout if you'd like. Thank you so much for taking an interest in my doll business, and thank you for reading my new page as well!

    2. Please do look for Antique dolls! I don't really have money to buy right now, but if you'd be on the lookout for some that would be great! If you do find something, just let me know! ;)
If you do find something could you maybe send me pictures via email, and maybe also the size of the doll. I'd really like dollhouse size if possible, but really I'd like any doll. Oh, also, I'd like to know if the clothes are removable or sewn on.
Sorry, I'm being a bit picky, I guess I'd just like to know what I'm getting. :)
      Thanks,
      Haley

    3. Ok then! I'll definitely be on the lookout for you! I will totally email you pictures, size, and any other information on the doll(s) once I find some :) oh no don't be sorry! Your comment is really helpful in finding the dolls you're looking for :)

  3. I enjoy writing fiction stories, too and I love comic books. I don't do ballet but I used to and I love watching it. I am a part of many sports and musical theater, though.

    1. Awesome! WritIng is so much fun! Oh cool! I love doing ballet, and watching it is so much fun :D That's epic! I've always thought musical theater would be so cool to try, I'm not very good at singing though so I'm not sure if I ever will XD what kind of sports do you play?

  4. Writing is a lot of fun! Musical theater is a lot of fun. I'm not an amazing singer, either but when everyone's doing the chorus harmony is more important, and you don't hear individual voices very well. I'm not currently on any sports teams (because my family moved very recently and it was the middle of the spring sports season so I'll do some in the fall, and I used to do a lot, and there are plenty of sports lovers in my family so we play a lot at home. I've done soccer and basketball and at home I played (and play) badmitton, basketball, baseball and football. I also go running and swimming as often as I can. I've done a lot of bike-riding, riding my scooter and a lot of dance (I did ballet and hip hop before we moved). That's all I can think of but I'd like to try karate.

    1. It is! Oh cool! That sounds like it'd be really fun to try someday :D Nice! My family loves sports, but I'm so uncoordinated when it comes to that sort of thing it's not even funny XD I do like playing basketball at home though! That's awesome! I love watching hip hop, I took summer Jazz/hip hop classes several years back and it was really fun! Oooooo!!! You should totally try karate! My sister used to do it and it always looked like it would be really cool to try :D

  5. Yeah, it looks like a lot of fun. Basketball at home is a lot of fun. Yeah, I used to be super uncoordinated but then I found some sports that I'm actually good at. I'm still really bad at gymnastics. Hip hop is a lot of fun. And fun to watch.

    1. It does! I've played it at home, but I'm not sure if we play it right XD Yes it is! Yeah, for me I just can't catch to save my life XD Aw man, I'm awful at gymnastics! It is! I always enjoy seeing the advanced hip hop dance at recitals :)

  6. Such a beautiful and elegant picture of you! I've always loved dancing but I never took lessons, rather, interpretive dance (I was in the talent show twice in high school and in the ensamble for "Fame", same era). When the kids were little we would have dance sessions to show tunes all around our living/dining room before bed, Sound of Music was our favorite. I can still be seen sock dancing in the kitchen ;-) Irish jigs in March are particularly fun ;-) I've always wanted to be a professional writer and have spent the past 20 years as a semi-professional (but not)! lol I love American Girl (and the type) dolls but don't have the room to collect them, I think it is really neat that you 'save' and restore them! I loved your re-wigging post! And your crochet skill... wowzers!
